If it's endemic, we should be vaccinatine and using public health measures to control it, like we have with every endemic virus before it. But we're not in the endemic phase yet, we're still in the outbreak phase. If we want to minimize deaths we need to treate the outbreak like an outbreak rather than crash our medical system and lock up vulnerable people "for their own good"

There's no preparing hsopitals without public health measures. What we need is to get over our individualism above all philosphy and see ourselves as part of a society that owes each other health, safety, and the ability to live.
